Seems like Deshmukh brothers like portraying negative characters on big screen. After
Riteish Deshmukh rendered a good performance as an antagonist in ‘Ek Villain’ (2014), his cousin Yash Deshmukh is all set to make his acting debut with first-time director Santosh Mijgar’s Marathi drama ‘Patil’.
“The makers of the film saw my pictures somewhere and asked me if I would like to audition for the part of a villain in this film.
I went for the screen test and days later, I received a call from them saying I am in,” said Yash, when asked about how he had landed the role.
“The film has two parts – one that is set in a village and the other in Mumbai. I come in picture in the second part and are at loggerheads with the main lead (Narendra Deshmukh),” added the young actor.
So, did he seek any professional help from Riteish, who is Yash’s father’s sister’s son, and he replied in negative. “I told him about the film once everything got finalised. His reaction was very encouraging. Both Riteish and Genelia are very supportive members of our family,” explained Yash.
‘Patil’ is based on the ideology that one person's struggle can be an inspiration for others and has
Shivaji Lotan Patil, Varsha Dhandhle, Bhagyashri Mote, Narendra Deshmukh, Pratima Deshpande, Suresh Pillai and Kapil Kamble in pivotal roles.
The film is slated to release on October 26.
