Rishab Shetty is 'proud' after receiving National Film Award for Kantara: 'It gives motivation to regional film industries'

Kannada superstar Rishab Shetty is thrilled to win the Best Actor award at the 70th National Film Awards for his hit film Kantara. He believes this win will inspire others in the Kannada film industry and across India to create exciting stories and fresh ideas in their pursuit of artistic excellence.

After the National Award ceremony in Delhi, he expressed his pride and happiness at receiving the award, emphasizing its significance for the Kannada film industry. He noted that this recognition motivates the next generation of actors and filmmakers in regional cinema, encouraging them to strive for excellence and national acknowledgment.



He also highlighted that receiving a National Award is both an honor and a significant responsibility for him and his peers. It encourages them to push their limits and work hard to achieve excellence. Kantara, which he wrote and directed, is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films and features Rishab Shetty in dual roles.



Set in Keradi, coastal Karnataka, the film began principal photography in August 2021. It became a major commercial success, ranking as the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, just behind K.G.F: Chapter 2, which was released a few months earlier. Additionally, it was the fourth highest-grossing film in India in 2022.

The film has captured the hearts of audiences and critics alike, earning recognition at the 54th IFFI Indian Panorama section, where it won the Silver Peacock - Special Jury Award. Rishab Shetty is currently focused on creating the prequel, titled Kantara: Chapter 1.
