FREEZE FRAME: Riingo. (TOI Photo)Familiar for his film-making Kranti and preference for unlikely subjects, this time around, Riingo has done a stunt with camera. Called time slicing, this is Kolkatas first tryst with such an experimentation.
The director explains, Ive used it for a Bangladeshi commercial. This one is called a frozen moment shot or FMS.

In this process, time is sliced into 25 frames. For an even greater understanding, try imagining the bullet sequence with Keanu Reeves in Matrix. The entire scene is shot by placing the cameras in 180 degree axis.
Naturally, for a 180 degree shot, you require 25 cameras, continues Riingo, while adding that each second is 25 frames. One has to geometrically measure the degree of camera placement. In fact, all the cameras will roll at the same time. The subject performs the act and each camera records the act from zero to 180 degree. Next, one frame from each camera is taken, joined in a sequence of one to 25 and when we play it, each frame becomes a freeze frame, Riingo says.
