The entertainment industry has reportedly a troubling pattern where gunmen have opened fire at their residences, either in hate crimes or as intimidation tactics. From international icons like Rihanna and Drake to Bollywood stars like Salman Khan and Rohit Shetty, several stars have faced security threats with armed people opening fire outside their homes. Here’s a look at some high-profile cases that made headlines.

Pop star Rihanna’s home in Los Angeles made headlines after a woman reportedly fired 10 shots outside her plush home. According to police reports, multiple shots were fired at the gate of the mansion, with news reports showing images of bullet marks. Although no injuries were reported and Rihanna and her three children were reported to be safe, authorities detained a suspect in connection with the incident and booked the woman on suspicion of attempted murder and jailed her with a USD 10 million bail. The district attorney had not yet announced charges. Since the firing on Sunday, the singer has reportedly increased her personal security on her property.

Bollywood filmmaker Rohit Shetty reportedly faced a similar scare just last month, when gunshots were heard near his Juhu residence, an upscale neighbourhood in Mumbai. While there were no reports on injuries, the incident sent cops chasing down suspects who reportedly opened fire at the director's residence before fleeing the scene. The incident led to a number of arrests. As per reports, the shooting was orchestrated by members linked to the Shubham Lonkar gang and the 6 main assailants were allegedly drawn in by the promise of easy money, attention, and a sense of identity.

Punjabi singer AP Dhillon reported gunfire at his Vancouver Island residence in Canada. The singer's home was targeted in a disturbing attack filmed on camera, which went viral on social media. The clip shot by the gunman saw him deploying a magazine while firing at the property, and setting vehicles ablaze. The incident was allegedly linked to threats over Dhillon’s association with Bollywood star Salman Khan. Gangster Rohit Godara reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack. The Canadian police arrested a suspect named Abhijeet Kingra, an Indian from Ontario and put out an arrest warrant for the second suspect.

One of the most widely reported cases of gunfire outside a celebrity home involved Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The actor was home with his family when two men on a bike opened fire at his Galaxy Apartment residence and fled the scene. The firing occurred early in the morning and prompted a major manhunt for the two suspects and the group that helped them organise the attack. The incident was widely linked to threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has previously issued death threats to the actor. Following the attack, security measures around Khan’s home were subsequently tightened, and the actor was also granted special protection.

Punjabi singer Karan Aujla claimed that he was targeted six times in 2025. The star reported six shooting incidents and extortion attempts at his home in Canada. In a podcast with Raj Shamani, he shared, "Till now, it has happened six times with me – firing on me or my house. The worst part is that the houses in Canada are made of wood. The bullet just goes through, so there's no safety." He claimed that the shootings prompted him to move to Dubai.

Another Punjabi actor-singer targeted in Canada was Gippy Grewal. As per reports, the star reported gunfire outside his gated West Vancouver residence. Shots were reportedly fired outside the property. As per reports, members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility, accusing Grewal of being 'close' to Salman Khan and also claimed that "overacted" post the death of fellow Punjabi star, Sidhu Moosewala. Following the gang's alleged threat, authorities launched an official investigation.

Back in August 2020, actress Kangana Ranaut raised alarm when she reported hearing gunshots near her Manali home. At the time, the actress alleged an intimidation attempt following her comments regarding actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death case. However, soon after the incident, a preliminary investigation by the police did not immediately find any evidence of gunfire in the area. Reports later stated that the suspected gunfire may have been fireworks.

Drake's Toronto mansion has been the site of shootings in two separate incidents. In 2024, amid a high-profile public spat with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, news broke about the rapper's security guard being shot and seriously injured after a shooting incident outside his mansion. As per reports, suspects drove to the rapper's residence, fired shots and fled. A week later, there was another report of a shooting at the house, after an intruder reportedly entered Drake's guarded compound. The man was arrested for breaking in. Police, however, found no connection with the previous shooting incident at the rapper's property.
