Riddhima Kapoor Sahni REVEALS family getting trolled after Rishi Kapoor's death: 'People said, oh, they look so happy'

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni recently spoke about the harsh trolling she and her family endured in the wake of the demise of her father, renowned actor Rishi Kapoor.

In a candid interview with Galatta India, Riddhima reminisces how people would make remarks on the social media site about the Kapoor family looking at photos and coming out publicly.

Riddhima said the kind of criticism that wasn't just painful but disrespecting the private pain that a family goes through: "People used to say, 'Oh, they look so happy, they're going out,'" she said.

She was determined that the family could very well be composed on the outside, but within four walls, it was seized with unimaginable pain and loss.

Riddhima pointed out that the family would not want to let the feelings go out in the open and several people misunderstood this decision.

The jewellery designer also spoke about the emotional cost public scrutiny had taken on her mother, Neetu Kapoor.

Even though Neetu had been so resilient in her outlook, there were many comments from people who did not know of her personal battles. Riddhima was proud of her mother's strength at such trying times by saying how Neetu's bravery helped the family to get over it.

Riddhima revealed that after the death of her father, the family was more together because they did not expose their sorrow to one another to add to each other's pain. Kapoors' strength came from unity, with resilience for each other in difficult times.

Touching on the issue of privilege, Riddhima said that people outside the family often make an assumption that the family had it easy, not realizing the personal insecurities the family faced. "People think we're privileged, that we have everything—but they don't know the insecurities we deal with," she said.
