Richa Chadha to screen ‘Love Sonia’ across India’s small towns

The film, directed by Tabrez Noorani, highlights the global issue of sex-trafficking. The story revolves around a small-town young girl, who gets trapped in flesh trade. Richa, who plays a pivotal role in the movie, said that she wants to spread awareness about the issue in the country’s small towns. Noting that a lot of people lack access to cinema, she shared that the theme of ‘Love Sonia’ is important.
The actress said that girls should be aware of such dangers right from a young age, and it’s important to educate them on these matters in schools and colleges. Taking a personal initiative to spread the message, Richa said that she would conduct screenings across the country.

Richa is also working on the biopic of actress Shakeela. Recently, while talking to Bombay Times about playing the South actress, Richa had said that it’s a big responsibility. “The film is about one woman standing up for herself in a male-dominated society. Being successful and being targeted for that. It doesn’t really dwell on her films per se but her life’s ups and downs. When you play a real person, there’s more responsibility on an actor as it is he/she who represents that person.”
