It was long ago that Rhea Kapoor had announced her next production based on Anuja Chauhan's ‘Battle Of Bittora’ featuring actor-sister Sonam Kapoor, but there has been no further update on the same. Amid buzz of the film being shelved, it was recently revealed that the team is looking out for a male lead and a director.
And now, Rhea has confirmed that Battle of Bittora has been delayed but it will 100 per cent happen. In an interview with Mid Day, the producer revealed that she will not give up on the ‘most romantic script’ she has worked on. Rhea added that it wasn’t the right time to start making the film but it is definitely on the cards.
Recently, Sonam revealed that 'Battle for Bittora' will be among the films she will front next year, adding that the team is currently looking for a male lead and a director.
For the unversed, Chauhan’s novel narrates the story of childhood friends-turned-sweethearts, Sarojini and Zain, who battle it out at elections, putting their love to the test. When asked whether the story is set against the backdrop of a political battle, making it ia tricky project to pull off, Rhea had explained that in such subjects, authenticity is the aim. She added that she wants the story to be told as authentically as possible, and ensure that full justice is done. According to her, the right actors are integral to the film and she doesn’t want to compromise on any aspect.
According to reports, Fawad Khan was to be signed for the film, after he was seen wooing the audiences with his chemistry with Sonam in ‘Khubsoorat’ (2014). But the Pakistani actor had an untimely exit from Bollywood amid political tension between the nations. Thereafter, the film was shelved
Elaborating further, Rhea added that the film has been in development for a while and since they work as a boutique production house, development is a serious business. She went on to say that she never gave up on the movie and that Battle of Bittora is her favourite and it will 100 per cent happen but she wants all the pieces to come together.
