Ram Gopal Varma must be a very patient man. The filmmaker was in Delhi recently to unveil a showreel of his next, “Rakht Charitra”. He knew that, and the people who were to watch it knew that, but obviously, the compere didn’t.After the customary ‘Ladies and gentlemen, we are here to...’, the compere paused, checked his notes and haltingly continued, saying that what was being screened was a showreel of “Rakshatra”.
One would have thought that RGV, when he walked on stage a few minutes later to introduce the film, would correct the compere, but he didn’t. Which, it can only be assumed, is proof of his magnanimity and patience!
Afterwards, he answered questions in different languages and refused to rise to the bait and say anything about Karan Johar.
A journalist from a Telugu channel was politely told that it was “unfair” to have him and RGV conversing in Telugu. Another question in shudh Hindi. And when asked what the budget of the film was, he responded, “Since you haven’t put in the money, why are you worried about how much it is?”
