With Satya 2 ready for release, life seems to have come a full circle for Ram Gopal Varma. The director, who had had a fall-out with several team members of his 1998 blockbuster Satya, is slowly mending fences. And as he gears up for his first ever filmy party, invitations has gone to
Manoj Bajpayee,
Anurag Kashyap and Urmila Matondkar—the three who were once integral part of his life but had drifted apart with time.
It seems Varma wants to turn this event into a get-together of sorts. The ‘Satya’-themed party will be held at a suburban 5-star hotel this Sunday.
The fall-out between Ramu and Manoj happened when RGV wanted Manoj to play the role of Sambha in his
Sholay remake while the actor was keen on essaying the role of Veeru. On the other hand, Kashyap who co-wrote
Satyawith Saurabh Shukla, parted ways with Varma citing ‘creative differences’. The director’s linkup with his one-time muse Urmila made it to all the film magazines—and their relationship soured when another actress came into the picture.
A source told TOI: “Time is the best healer. None of the three hold any grudge against Ramu and even the director has nothing against his ex-team mates. In fact, Ramu and Manoj might soon do a film together. Recently, Manoj even came to Ramu’s office and the two watched portions of
Satya 2.”
This is the first time Varma, known to be a social recluse, has gone ahead and thrown a party. When contacted, Ramu said: “I have never given a party in my life and I never invited anyone for any event because I truly value time and didn’t want to subject anyone to such occasions. But both
Satya and
Satya 2 are very special to me and hence the aberration.”
