On the 94th birth anniversary of one of India’s most beloved leaders, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, actor Jackie Shroff took to social media to remember the late President with heartfelt words.

Jackie Shroff took to Instagram stories to share a picture of the visionary scientist and wrote, “Remembering Shri APJ Abdul Kalam ji on his Birth Anniversary!”

The Life and legacy of the ‘Missile Man of India’

For the unversed, an aerospace scientist and statesman, Dr. Kalam served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007. He earned the title “Missile Man of India.” for his pioneering work in India’s ballistic missile and launch vehicle programmes,

A recipient of the Bharat Ratna, Dr. Kalam played a crucial role in India’s Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998. Tragically, while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong on July 27, 2015, he collapsed and passed away at the age of 83.

Dhanush to portray Kalam in upcoming biopic

Adding a cinematic tribute to his legacy, a biopic titled ‘Kalam’ was recently announced at the Cannes Film Festival. The film will feature National Award-winning actor Dhanush in the lead role, portraying Dr. Kalam’s extraordinary journey from Rameswaram to Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Directed by Om Raut, known for Adipurush, the film promises to go beyond politics, exploring “the man behind the missile programs and the presidency — the poet, the teacher, the dreamer. The Dhanush- led movie is expected to mark the comeback of the director Om Raut whose previous film 'Adipurush' starring Prabhas in the lead, received poor reviews from the audiences and flopped at the box office. Meanwhile, Dhanush was recently seen in the drama film 'Idli Kadai'.
