Veteran actor Raza Murad has lodged a formal complaint with Mumbai’s Amboli Police Station after a false social media post claimed that he had passed away. Disturbed by the incident, Raza Murad admitted he was left exhausted from constantly clarifying that the news was fake and that he was alive.

The fabricated post carried a fake death date of Raza Murad

Speaking to ANI, the actor explained how the misleading post spread rapidly online, complete with tributes and condolences. “There are some people who, for reasons I cannot comprehend, seem troubled by my existence. They wrote that I had worked for many years but nobody remembers me now. This post also carried a false death date and birthday details. It is not a small matter; it is very serious,” Raza Murad said. He expressed disappointment that such misinformation was so cruelly spread, causing unnecessary distress to his family, friends, and fans.

Raza Murad added that the situation became overwhelming as calls and messages began pouring in from across the globe. “My throat, tongue, and lips have dried up from repeatedly saying that I am alive.
This false news has spread everywhere. People are even sending me screenshots of the post, thinking it is true,” he lamented. Calling the incident “shameful,” he criticised the mindset of the individual behind the rumour. The actor confirmed that the police had taken his complaint seriously and assured him that an FIR would be filed. Authorities have promised to track down the individual responsible for creating and circulating the post, with legal action to follow. Raza Murad emphasised that such acts of spreading fake death news about celebrities should not be tolerated. “This must stop, not just for me but for every public figure who is wrongly declared dead while still alive.
