Ravi Shastri recalls a heartfelt request made by Virat Kohli in 2015 related to Anushka Sharma

Former Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri shared a touching story about Virat Kohli's deep affection for his wife, Anushka Sharma.

The heartwarming incident dates back to the 2015 Australia tour, when Kohli, then dating the Bollywood actress, requested Shastri to bring Anushka along despite team regulations at the time.

During a chat with Fox Cricket, Shastri recalled how Kohli asked, "Only wives are allowed. Can I get my girlfriend in here?"

After confirming that the board wouldn’t allow it, Shastri made a call, and Anushka joined the tour, a gesture that seemed to motivate the cricketer, who scored a remarkable 169 runs in the Boxing Day Test.

Fast forward to 2024, and Kohli, after scoring his 81st international century during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, once again sent a flying kiss to Anushka, who was watching from the stands.

Reflecting on the support Anushka has provided over the years, Kohli expressed gratitude, saying, "Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin."

The couple’s bond continues to thrive, with their children, Vamika and Akaay, also accompanying them in Australia. The ongoing series is set to continue with the second Test on December 6.
