Rasika Dugal may not be the amongst the ultimate commercial heroines that Bollywood currently has considering the kinds of films that she has done. But talent never fails and that’s exactly why Rasika Dugal’s quality performance hasn’t been undermined. Rasika Dugal, who plays a pivotal role in Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Manto’, is currently overwhelmed for the upcoming film ‘Manto’, the biopic on Sadat Hassan
Manto
, heading to the
Cannes Film Festival
.Expressing her thoughts on such an achievement,
Rasika Dugal said in a statement, “It has been ten years since I started acting professionally. It has been a crazy journey, with so many ups and downs and myriad experiences. And I couldn't have thought of a better way to celebrate ten years of being in this profession than with having my film as an official entry at the Cannes Film festivals and that too in a prestigious section - Un Certain Regard. She further added, “For actors like me, appreciation for our work is most valuable. It is what we thrive on. This selection is such an honour and an incentive to push myself further to learn more and raise the standards of performance”.In ‘Manto’, Rasika plays the character of Manto’s wife Safia and the film is helmed by
Nandita Das. Interestingly, it was reportedly tough for the team to build up around Rasika’s character due to lack of information about Safia. As a consequence, a lot of books were read to get the right details. The movie also features
Tahir Bhasin
and
Rajshri Deshpande in pivotal roles.
