Ranveer Singh ransom threat case: Mumbai Crime Branch traces sender linked to Lawrence Bishnoi
‘Dhurandhar’ star Ranveer Singh had received a WhatsApp voice note demanding Rs 1 crore in ransom on Tuesday. Since the actor’s security has been increased and the authorities are working on tracing the source. Latest developments in the case suggest that the Mumbai Crime Branch has traced the sender. Officials said the voice in the message reportedly belongs to Harry Boxer, who is known as a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
In the voice note, Rs 1 crore was demanded from the actor. The message was sent to Ranveer’s manager’s mobile number. The threat came after the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s house. As per a report by IANS, the police said the voice note clearly carried the voice of Harry Boxer, as per their early findings. But they are still checking more evidence to confirm everything properly.
Additionally, officials said a VPN network was used to send the threat. The location traced so far points to a foreign country. Police are now trying to find out which country’s VPN was active at that time.
The Crime Branch is also seeking help from Interpol. They want to track the exact source of the message. The investigation is still going on.
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the police also recorded the statement of actor Aayush Sharma’s manager. Aayush is the brother-in-law of superstar Salman Khan. Officials said a formal FIR is expected soon.
