The 68th National Film Awards were announced on Friday in Delhi.
Ajay Devgn and
Suriya won the best actor award while Ashutosh Gowariker's 'Toolsidas Junior' starring
Sanjay Dutt and late actor
Rajiv Kapoor won the Best Hindi Film award.
Randhir Kapoor's brother Rajiv passed away in February 2021 due to cardiac arrest while the film was released on an OTT platform this year. It was Rajiv's last film as an actor.
Speaking about the same, Randhir told Pinkvilla that he is very happy about the award. He also said that the film is really good and his brother Rajiv acted very well in it. He also added that if his brother were here, he would have given him something.
The film was directed by Mridul Toolsidass. It also featured child actor
Varun Buddhadev, who got a special mention by the jury for his solid performance.
While speaking to BT, the director spoke about winning the
National Award. He also spoke about Rajiv Kapoor and revealed that they showed him the final cut before his sudden demise. He shared, "Somewhere up there, Rajiv sir is celebrating this win. We lost him and it was heartbreaking for all of us. Thankfully, we had managed to show him the final cut of the film. Since his passing, his sister Reema and I have chatted very often and she always tells me when someone in the Kapoor family watches the film and has some good things to say about it. Had Rajiv sir been around today, he would have kicked off a beautiful new innings in his acting career. So many people have said this to me. He had not worked in films in decades, but when he did, he hit it out of the park. His swan song has such a sweet note."
