During an interview, Randeep Hooda reflected on the challenging task of directing and acting in the film 'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar', which included filming at the historic Cellular Jail in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The jail, famously known as Kaala Paani, once held the controversial freedom fighter Savarkar as a prisoner. When asked about his experience filming scenes, especially at night in prison, Randeep was questioned if he sensed Savarkar's 'presence' on set.

During an episode of the BeerBiceps podcast, the host discussed the process of channeling Savarkar and shedding numerous kilograms to embody the role. Randeep revealed that he began to sense Savarkar's presence, almost as if the freedom fighter himself were directing the scenes. When asked if he felt Savarkar's presence on set, Randeep affirmed, stating that he felt it in every frame. There were moments when he genuinely experienced it. He described instances where, while working, he would catch a glimpse of a shadow that resembled Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, prompting him to think, 'Wow, that looks like Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.'

'Swatantrya Veer Savarkar', which premiered on March 22, received mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike. Despite the varied reception, the film has managed to garner Rs 13 crore at the box office thus far.
