Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, directed by Ayan Mukerji, continues its magic on the big screen as the film returned to theaters in 2024. This marks the film’s second re-release; during its first re-release, the film earned Rs 75 lakh. However, this time, the film is earning more than Varun Dhawan’s Baby John on a daily basis.
Over the weekend, the film's show count jumped from 750 to 2,200 screens, helping it collect Rs 6.85 crore:
- Friday: Rs 1.20 crore
- Saturday: Rs 2.40 crore
- Sunday: Rs 3.25 crore
On Monday, the film once again crossed the ₹1 crore mark by minting Rs 1.25 crore, according to Sacnilk. With this, the cumulative collection of the film across its multiple releases has reached ₹197 crore. It now needs just Rs 3 crore more to enter the prestigious Rs 200 crore club.
With only Sonu Sood’s Fateh releasing next week, YJHD has a strong chance of maintaining its impressive run and finally crossing the magical ₹200 crore mark by the end of the coming Sunday.
While Ranbir Kapoor is next set to appear in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan, Ayan Mukerji is busy completing War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, NTR Jr., and Kiara Advani, which is slated for release around the Independence Day weekend. The trade is highly optimistic about War 2, believing it could become the Hindi film that finally breaks the dominance of South Indian films at the box office and competes with blockbusters like Pushpa 2: The Rule.
Deepika Padukone, meanwhile, is currently taking a break from films following the birth of her daughter, Dua.
