Ranbir Kapoor's affection for his niece, Samara Sahni, daughter of his sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahani and Bharat Sahni, is well-known. At Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan's son, Jeh's birthday party, the 13-year-old was seen posing with the 'Animal' actor. Samara shared that she calls Ranbir 'RK' as per his request.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Samara mentioned hearing about Ranbir being a naughty child, which prompted her mother, Riddhima, to quickly add that he also studied diligently. When Bharat reminded Samara that Ranbir's childhood mischief didn't justify her own, she cheekily argued that since both Riddhima and Ranbir were naughty as kids, she could be as mischievous as she wanted.
Riddhima, a jewelry designer, shared that Samara loves hearing about Ranbir's childhood antics. During dinner, Samara often insists on hearing stories about 'RK' as a baby, eagerly asking for all the naughty tales. Riddhima reminisced about their fun-filled generation, recalling how she and Ranbir used to jump into the sewage outside their grandfather's house and enjoyed playing with the house helps' and drivers' children.
Riddhima discussed how her mother, actress Neetu Kapoor, instills discipline in Samara. Riddhima mentioned that Neetu supports her in managing Samara, saying, "My daughter can't discipline her alone; I have to help." In contrast, Riddhima noted that her mother-in-law is very kind.
In an earlier interview, Ranbir Kapoor discussed his bond with his niece, Samara. He shared that despite her shyness and living in Delhi, they were close during her early years. Now, at 11, she finds boys awkward, but Ranbir believes he remains a cool uncle. He prefers to be called 'RK' instead of uncle to maintain a sense of coolness and avoid seeming old, as reported by Hindustan Times.
During his appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Ranbir Kapoor shared that before attending Jeh's birthday party, Samara asked if there would be paparazzi. She inquired, 'RK' will there be media?" When he confirmed, she excitedly planned her poses, expressing her love for being photographed.
On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is currently working on Nitesh Tiwari helmed 'Ramayana'.
