Janhvi Kapoor's ‘Peddi’ has been out for less than half a day, but the backlash has already been hard to ignore. The criticism is not aimed at the film's writing or direction, but largely at how poorly Janhvi's character has been written. Her role serves no real purpose in the film, reducing her to little more than an object of the male characters' desires.
Janhvi Kapoor's objectification in 'Peddi' sparks questions over censorship board's silence
Fans have repeatedly raised concerns about the censorship board's silence regarding the constant objectification and sexualization of Janhvi in ‘Peddi’. Many feel that if the board is quick to crack down on gore and violence in films like Obsession, it should equally step up to protect women's portrayal on screen. Viewers pointed out that Ram Charan's character did not merely admire her but was openly and shamelessly lusting after her. With her character having absolutely no purpose in the film, audiences have called out both the actor and director Buchi Babu Sana for this glaring oversight.
Fans flood social media calling out Janhvi Kapoor's degrading portrayal in 'Peddi'

He describes her eyes, scene then cuts to show her breasts. He describes her lips, then cuts to show her waist. To Editor, are you really that clueless that you don't know what eyes & lips are?"
The outrage did not stop there. A person expressed, "the heroine deserved a character. Instead she got a string of vulgar, degrading, objectifying scenes stitched together and called a role.
