Rakul Preet Singh: You don’t constantly need the validation of doing cinema across borders

While last year she didn’t have any Hindi releases, Rakul Preet Singh will be seen in three Bollywood movies this year. The actress who’s known to do films in different languages shares that one can’t take the constant pressure of doing cinema across languages every year.

She tells us, “You can’t constantly have that thought of having the validation of doing cinema across boundaries. I’m constantly in touch with people. I only see the warmth and I just keep working irrespective of the language the film is made in. You can’t really balance. It’s all about right script at the right time.”

Just like many other actors, Rakul is also an entrepreneur associated with various brands. Interestingly, her ventures align with her passion for wellness and causes like safe sex. It’s something which also translates into her choice of films.She says, “I did a film like Chhatriwali. When you’re an actor, have a certain platform to raise your voice and you have a business that brings about change then it just compliments each other.”



The actress who considers herself “workaholic” in our earlier conversation spoke about her married life. She said, “Jackky and I are friends before anything else. It’s the same fun companionship. Nothing has changed. I feel like it’s amazing to be married especially with a partner who shares similar likes. Largely our DNA has remained the same and that’s the best part when nobody has to change for the other. When you hail from the same professional background there are a lot of things that are easy to either discuss or to understand. He understands my work… be it the night shoots, shooting outdoors. He knows how it works and so we are on the same page.”
