Rajkummar Rao's gangster thriller 'Maalik' gets a June release date
Rajkummar Rao will star as a brutal gangster in the action-thriller 'Maalik', which is scheduled for theatrical release on June 20, 2025. The film is directed by Pulkit and also stars Medha Shankr1. The makers announced the release date after the film's intense poster received an overwhelming response.
An older poster for 'Maalik' was released with the caption, “Poore pradesh aur desh pe RAJ karne aa rahe hain MAALIK!" The image showed Rao in a white outfit, looking intense while holding a gun and standing on a police jeep.
'Maalik', is currently in post-production. This action thriller marks Rajkummar Rao's first time playing a gangster. Rao announced the film and unveiled its poster on his 40th birthday, with the tagline "Maalik. Paida nahi ho sakta ban toh sakta hai".
In addition to this gangster drama, Rajkummar Rao has 'Bhool Chuk Maaf'. It is slated to be released in theaters on April 10. This romantic comedy will clash at the box office with Sunny Deol's action film, 'Jaat,' as they share the same release date. The movie seems to be revolving around a time loop, which is expected to give something new and different to the audience. Opposite Rajkummar Rai, 'Bhool Chuk Maaf' stars Wamiqa Gabbi in the lead.
On the personal front, a few days back, Rajkummar Rao and his wife Patralekhaa participated in the Mahakumbh 2025, taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. The couple shared photos of their spiritual journey on social media. The images show them immersed in the holy waters and then some pictures featured them interacting with saints and devotees. Rao said that his last visit to the Maha Kumbh Mela with his wife "changed his life".
