Despite threats,
Rajkumar Santoshi is going all out with the promotions of ‘Gandhi Godse - Ek Yudh’. He recently launched a song from the film with music composer
A R Rahman in attendance. The music of the film has been helmed by AR
Rahman, who collaborates with Santoshi after two decades.
Showering the Oscar winning musician with praise, Rajkumar Santoshi stated, “Nobody encouraged me when I decided to make the film. Rahman was with me and because of him, the film has been made. He stands by sincerity and truth and hence he held my hand. I didn't want a star for the film, the reason is that I didn't want the confusion. Rahman has not taken money for the film.” Speaking on the lines of the threats he has received, protesting against the release of the ‘Gandhi Godse - Ek Yudh’, the filmmaker stated, “Censor gave me a U certificate and recommended it be shown in school and colleges. I fail to understand those who claim to be Gandhi bhakts. Theatre jalane wale keh rahe hai ke Gandhi bhakt hai which is strange (Those burning theatres are saying they are Gandhi followers, which is strange).”
Previously, the filmmaker filed a police complaint and wrote a letter to Special Commissioner of Police Deven Bharti, requesting for additional security after receiving death threats. "Later several threats were received from some unknown people asking me to stop the release and promotion for this movie. I feel unsafe and I submit that grave damage and injury could be caused to me and my family members if such persons are set free," Santoshi said in the letter.
