‘Raja Shivaji’: Salman Khan wraps cameo shoot for Riteish Deshmukh’s period drama
Salman Khan has been keeping busy with his multiple film projects, including his cameo for Riteish Deshmukh’s much-anticipated historical drama, ‘Raja Shivaji’.
According to the latest reports, the superstar who is portraying the revered Maratha warrior Jeeva Mahala, one of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s most loyal and brave aides, wrapped up his portions in just two days.
The historical drama features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, and Abhishek Bachchan.
The movie also stars Chitrangda Singh and features actors like Abhilash Chaudhary, Ankur Bhatia, and others in key roles.
The shooting has taken place in locations including Leh, Ladakh, and Mumbai, with the Mumbai schedule starting in October 2025. The first official look of Salman in military uniform with bloodstains on his face was released in July 2025. As of now, the release date has not been officially announced, but industry reports suggest it may come out in either January or June of 2026.
Special role in Deshmukh’s directorial
According to Mid-day, Salman shot for Riteish’s movie at a suburban studio earlier this week. The superstar shares a warm bond with the actor-filmmaker, and when approached, he immediately agreed. He shot some close-ups, and went on to resume ‘Battle of Galwan’, before filming his action sequences for ‘Raja Shivaji’ choreographed by Parvez Shaikh.Historical significance of Jiva Mahala
Jiva Mahala, a faithful Maratha warrior and one of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s trusted bodyguards, was instrumental in safeguarding the king during the 1659 Battle of Pratapgarh. It is believed that he saved Shivaji Maharaj’s life during the clash with Afzal Khan’s troops.The historical drama features an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, and Abhishek Bachchan.
About ‘Battle of Galwan’
Meanwhile, Salman Khan's film ‘Battle of Galwan’ is a war drama directed by Apoorva Lakhia that depicts the real-life 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley. Khan plays an army man in the film, which highlights the bravery of around 200 Indian soldiers who stood against 1,200 Chinese soldiers during this fierce confrontation.The movie also stars Chitrangda Singh and features actors like Abhilash Chaudhary, Ankur Bhatia, and others in key roles.
