Raj Thackeray gifts Amitabh Bachchan caricatures of iconic characters he's played over the years

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan turns 75 today. On reaching this milestone, fans, friends, colleagues and wellwishers alike have been flooding the superstar with their own tributes of love be it in the form of messages, song or even artworks. A number of Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles to wish the thespian on the occasion of his 75th birthday, including politician Raj Thackeray, who had a little something special to gift the birthday boy.
Raj took to his social media account to wish the megastar with a long heartfelt message and shared six caricatures that portray Amitabh’s best characters over the years. In his post, he says, “No debate that Amitabh Bachchan altered the style and content of Hindi Cinema, and set a new agenda for filmdom. Again, no debate, that his roles re-defined the post-1970 Indian cinema and his legacy continues. He cast an abiding influence on generations of cinema buffs.”

Going on to state that unlike many other stars who have “faded into the sunset”, he says, “Amitabh Bachchan still holds the sceptre. And how!”
Citing that although he may have had differences with the actor in the past, he says that legends such as Big B, Lata Mangeshkar and Sachin Tendulkar are not the “brand ambassadors of a particular region or state. They belong to India.”


Thackeray shared, “During the last four decades or so, Amitabh Bachchan has portrayed a breath-taking range of roles on the silver screen, and has brought to life a cavalcade of characters. I have sketched his images on the occasion of his 75th birthday in an attempt to capture his unparalleled career and to showcase his changing persona.”



He signed off saying, “This is a small gift from the artist in me to a thespian. I hope you will like it. Happy birthday, Amitabhji.”
