Raj Kapoor's name on Srinagar airport?

mumbai: leading luminaries of the film industry have urged the union government to name the airport in srinagar after the showman of hindi cinema raj kapoor, who is regarded as a symbol of peace and love even today by the people. reacting to such a proposal mooted by the captains of film industry on occasion of the release of postal stamp in the memory of the legendary film maker on friday night, union communications minister pramod mahajan said he would convey the suggestion to jammu and kashmir government.paying glowing tributes to the late film maker, actor- turned-mp sunil dutt said raj kapoor's films such as awara and barsaat had helped defuse the tension which partition had unleashed on independent india after 1947. the films of raj kapoor were message-oriented and full of compassion, love and human values, dutt said, adding it would be fit and proper if srinagar airport was named after him. thespian dilip kumar said "raj was my good friend. he was part of my life. we have played cricket and football together. raj was good goalkeeper and a leg spinner." evergreen star dev anand, paying rich tributes to raj kapoor, said "his films have always inspired me. he was a great actor and film maker". the four-colour stamp, which showcases the film maker, was released in the backdrop of music from his films awara, shri 420 and mera naam joker. the entire family of raj kapoor was present on the occasion.
