Rahul Vaidya breaks silence on industry equations after Virat Kohli-Avneet Kaur controversy: 'I don't care...'
Rahul Vaidya has opened up about his industry relationships in the aftermath of the Virat Kohli-Avneet Kaur controversy. Speaking during his Ganesh Chaturthi performance at Mumbai’s Lalbaugcha Raja, the singer addressed the online drama, shared his perspective on fragile industry ties, and even joked about the social media mix-up involving the cricketer.
When asked about his relationships with industry peers after the Virat Kohli-Avneet Kaur controversy, Rahul told India Today that he doesn’t care. He explained that those who truly know him will understand the context of his comments. He added that if any relationships are so fragile that a single remark can break them, then it’s better they break, as such fragile bonds are of little value.
In May, Virat clarified that he liked a post featuring actress and influencer Avneet due to a technical glitch, after the post gained attention online.
"While clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made," Virat said in a statement.
Following the cricketer's explanation, Rahul took a playful dig at the cricketer. He joked that the Instagram algorithm might like many posts on his behalf in the future and asked women not to do PR around it, saying it would be Instagram’s fault, not his.
The singer also claimed that Kohli had blocked him on social media. The situation escalated when Rahul alleged that Kohli’s fans targeted him and his family online after he referred to the cricketer as a “Joker.” He added that Kohli’s brother even reached out to him to resolve the matter. Later, Vaidya shared that Virat had unblocked him and even called him “the greatest cricketer ever.”
Meanwhile, Rahul Vaidya has made history by becoming the first-ever singer to perform at the renowned Lalbaugcha Raja during Ganesh Chaturthi. This marks a significant milestone, as no singer has been part of the festivities in the past 91 years. Rahul expressed his excitement, calling it the most auspicious and blessed stage to perform on.
