Bollywood actress Radhika Apte has indeed come a long way with rich content-driven films and projects she chooses to star in. The actress is also known for expressing her opinions unapologetically. Having said that, she recently revisited one of her statements where she mentioned losing out on roles to young or younger looking actresses.
Radhika however shared she never fell for the trap and also clarified that herr words have been ‘sensationalised’ as things in the industry are improving for men and women in the industry. She added that she never underwent any surgeries to look younger.
When asked if she ever got rejected due to her looks, or because of pretty looking younger actress, she told in a chat show that there’s no truth to this. However she opined that age is a factor one cannot deny the fact that people want younger actresses in a bigger commercial films. “There have been days where you are told that ‘yeah you don’t have xyz’ and we need xyz. You can see the amount of surgeries people do. There is an image that we are chasing and not just in India, across the globe, which a lot of women are fighting against it.”
Speaking about the current scenario in the entertainment industry, the actress believes that things are getting better with time as Brands are promoting men and women of all ages, sizes.
The ‘Andhadun’ actress opened up on how she did struggle with that initially but never succumbed to it and stated that it’s a ‘very vulnerable position’.
Meanwhile on the work front, Radhika recently starred in Monica, O My Darling sharing screen space with Rajkummar Rao and Huma Qureshi.
