Over a career spanning nearly three decades, Madhavan has been a part of some memorable romantic films like Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Tanu Weds Manu, and Alai Payuthey. His latest film, Aap Jaisa Koi, marks his return to the romance genre. The film explores a love story between Madhavan’s character and a woman played by Fatima Sana Shaikh, with a 12-year age gap between them.
Talking to Mumbai Mirror, he said, “Finding a companion you truly want to spend the rest of your life with is rare. Age should not restrict the possibility of companionship.” He added, “I’ve met so many girls who say they don’t get along with guys their own age, even as friends. There’s a certain maturity with older men, maybe because they’ve seen more of the world, sometimes that can become the foundation for a lasting relationship.”
At 55, Madhavan acknowledges this might be one of his final romantic roles. “This is probably my last chance at doing romance on screen before it starts looking obscene,” he said. He’s quick to add praise for his co-star Fatima from the Netflix film. “She fits effortlessly with both younger and older heroes,” he said.
