Preeti Jhangiani who is best remembered for her roles in films like ‘Mohabbatein’ and ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ is all set for her next feature film — Dekho Yeh Hai Mumbai—a comic cinema. The actress who is married to
Parvin Dabas does not consider this film as her comeback. In a freewheeling chat with us, she talks about her role in the film and her future plans…
“Dekho Yeh Hai Mumbai is a comic film directed by Sneha Tuli and I play a role of a privileged girl who lives in Mumbai who has a lot of money and wants to make it big in the films, but you know that having money is not enough to make it big in the industry,” says Preeti and adds, “I have done comic films in the past but not comic role as such and in this film the comedy comes from my role. My role in the film is a bit of blonde and it will be a treat for the audience to watch me in the film. Interestingly, there is no male lead in the film.”
Preeti also clarified why this film is not her comeback movie. “I have a problem with the word comeback because I never went away from work. As soon as I delivered my first baby I was promoting my film —
Sahi Dhandhe Galat Bande
—which my husband directed it. And immediately after that I shot a Bengali film, a Rajathani film. And as soon as I delivered my second baby, I was in the United States for shows. So I have been constantly working. I have two Hindi films lined-up, one of which is a film based on farmer’s suicide and the other one is Pushkar Lodge. The point is that I have been shooting and I have shooting good scripts.”
So when asked why there’s nothing much written about her work, she says, “You see a lot of regional cinema does find it difficult to get publicity. However, I do feel that the audience’s mind-set is also changing and I feel that a good story storyline, a good trailer can pull in the audience today.”
