On the occasion of India’s 66th Republic Day, Prasoon Joshi has been selected as one of the chosen few to receive the highly respectable Padma Shri Award for his distinguished contribution towards the field of Poetry, Cinema and Communication over the years.READ: Humbled, motivated: Prasoon Joshi on winning Padma Shri A matter of immense pride, the Padma Shri is the fourth highest rank awarded to a civilian on Republic Day after the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan that is recognized by the Government of India.
It is awarded to civilians who have shown excellence and contributed generously to various spheres of activities such as Literature, Arts, Science, Public Affairs, Sports, Social Science and Medicine.

Salim Khan to name a few. Prasoon has joined the list of highly illustrious 2679 civilians who have earlier won the Padma Shri in the last six decades.
