Talking about the journey of the show, its creator Sharad Devarajan said, “Mythology of Hanuman has shaped my entire life, most of my growing up years has really been trying to understand this amazing sense of power Hanuman had, coupled with this unflinching sense of loyalty and compassion. He is one of the rarest of heroes. He's a beacon of hope to everybody. And my dream was 'could we really create a show that did justice to that?' "

He added, "Most of the shows that have been done, be its kids' animation, or live action are either talking about the mystery of this young boy who had godlike power, or his Lanka battle. However, I felt that there was this unique story behind all this. As we went back and delved into the texts and really wrapped our heads around it, I realized that there's this amazing, very relatable journey of this person who thinks he's an ordinary boy and then slowly divine powers are awakened within him. And how would any of us feel if it happened to us .With our show we wanted to show that transformation.”
The creator also spoke about the core difference between Hanuman and Ravan, both were immortal and had divine powers. He says, “ When you gain infinite power and immortality and if you don't have the wisdom to go with it, then you have Ravan. He has lived for 1000s of years with infinite power but lives with a certain numbness as he has no purpose. Immortality can be a curse and a blessing , with Hanuman we wanted to show the transformation, and with an anchor in Ram, he has a deep feeling of loyalty, compassion and humanity.”
The last big project to revolve around Ramayana was Prabhas’ Adipursh. Sharad mentions that he hasn’t seen the film till now, he says, “ I have heard about the film but when you are so deep into a story like ours ( The Legend of Hanuman) you 'almost' don't want to see anyone else’s version. But I'm a big fan of Prabhas, he’s one of the greatest actors in the world and I will see the film one day."
