Police struggle to contact Ranveer Allahbadia as his phone is switched off and residence locked: Report

YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia remains untraceable as Mumbai Police’s efforts to contact him have been unsuccessful. On Friday (February 14), Mumbai Police reportedly confirmed that Allahbadia’s residence was locked, and his phone was switched off.

According to India Today, the police were also unable to get in touch with his lawyer.

Allahbadia was summoned earlier in the day to appear before Khar Police Station in Mumbai for questioning regarding an investigation into explicit comments made on YouTube’s India’s Got Latent show. However, he failed to appear, prompting further concerns from law enforcement.

Ranveer approached the Supreme Court, filing a plea to consolidate multiple FIRs lodged against him across different states. He sought anticipatory bail, fearing possible legal action from Guwahati Police, who had also issued a summons related to the same matter.

The controversy stems from Ranveer’s sensitive remarks on the comedy talk show India’s Got Latent, which have drawn widespread criticism and led to multiple obscenity charges in various states.

According to Social Blade, between February 10 and February 12, his BeerBiceps YouTube channel reportedly lost nearly 90,000 subscribers, while another account of his saw a decline of approximately 100,000 subscribers.

Former National Commission for Women (NCW) chief and Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma expressed her shock over his remarks. She emphasised that such jokes, irrespective of gender, are unacceptable in society. Sharma further highlighted that making fun of a mother or a woman’s body signals a concerning erosion of moral values among today’s youth.
