Playing Veerapan's wife was draining for Usha Jadhav

National Award winning actress Usha Jadhav, who plays Muthulakshmi, wife of

Veerappan

in Ram Gopal Varma's upcoming film on the sandalwood smuggler, had to switch off from the outside world to get her character right . 'Muthulakshmi is the complete opposite of me,' she says, adding that while many know about the notorious criminal, few are aware of his wife.

Apparently, the filmmaker's research for Veerappan was to the tee. Usha sums up by saying, 'She was never happy as she suffered a great deal and went through a lot of torture. The role was emotionally as well as physically draining. I've just picked up the threads of her journey and knitted together the tapestry of her life.'
