A Polish distribution company has bagged the theatrical rights of Aamir Khan’s co-production, Peepli Live. The film, directed by Anusha Rizvi, is a satirical take on farmers’ suicide.
Theatrical release for Peepli Live in Poland is planned for close to 10 prints. The Polish company has also acquired the home, video and television rights for the territory. This closely follows the sale of German rights which were acquired earlier this week, co-producer, UTV, said in a statement.
“Peepli Live is a truly emotional film and it starts our trip with Indian movies that will open new horizons and develop our company to proceed with many more,” said Justyna Troszczynska, representing the Polish company.

Peepli Live is the first Indian film ever to be selected at the Sundance Film Festival (World Cinema Dramatic competition) and is also screening out of competition at the Berlin Film Festival. The film, starring Raghubir Yadav and new actors, is a satire on the real-life epidemic of farmer suicides that have plagued India for the past decade.
