Patralekhaa says she got most of her films through auditions even after the success of ‘CityLights’

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Patralekhaa expressed gratitude for the opportunity to star in a successful and critically acclaimed film like ‘CityLights’ as a beginner. Despite the film's success, the actor notes that it did not significantly impact her career trajectory. She speculated that this could be due to the timing or simply destiny. However, she acknowledged the valuable experience gained from working with talented individuals, which contributed to her growth and improvement as an artist during the formative years in the industry.


Patralekhaa's journey to success has been fraught with challenges. She reflects on her early career, describing a time when there was no structured support or agency to help her secure roles, leading her to attend up to five auditions daily. This rigorous auditioning process remains a significant part of her career, as she firmly believes in earning each role through auditions. She reveals that 80-90% of her work has come through this dedicated approach, underscoring her commitment to the audition process and her persistence in the industry.

Patralekhaa discusses how her approach to selecting scripts has evolved over time. She admits that at the beginning of her career, she accepted any roles offered to her due to her lack of industry knowledge. Now, she prioritizes the overall quality of the story rather than just her character's role. She also places significant importance on the director, recognizing that an actor is only a small part of the director's vision. Thus, after the script, she considers the director to be the most crucial factor in her decision-making process.

Patralekhaa is recognized for her grounded personality and distinct personal style. She describes her fashion sense as "comfortable," a reflection of her upbringing in Shillong, where stylish women influenced her. It was only after entering the film industry that she began to truly understand fashion. Her sartorial choices now combine comfort with eclectic influences, and she humorously notes the pressure to uphold the stylish legacy of the women from her hometown.
