He means busyness. With a new theatre group to take charge of, a megaserial to act and direct and last but not the least, a film, his third directorial venture (after Raasta and Teesta), with none other than Prosenjit Chatterjee, Bratya Basu is hard-pressed for time.
Talk about the yet-untitled film and the actor/director claims it to be a commercial venture, but unlike other commercial ventures.
1x1 polls
Prosenjit has already signed on the dotted line but Bratya explains that dates are yet to be worked out. We wanted to start shooting in March but Bumbada hasnt been able to give us dates. The rest of the cast needs to be finalised. Ive written the script and it has the typical Bratya touch to it. He elaborates that he too would be acting in the venture, which is far from serious. Like me, its part-serious and part-funny, Bratya quips.
But before the camera starts rolling, Bratyas group is sure to be one- production old. Hes been the field of theatre for more than 18 years now and cant stop gloating about his new group, BratyaJon. I was a part of Ganakrishti and Lokkrishti, but they werent my groups. In fact, after lending support to Mamata Banerjee on July 21, many theatre groups refused to work with me. By then, I was already toying with the idea of starting a new group. A few corporates are also involved with BratyaJon and they are part of the executive committee.
With television work too demanding a lot of his time, isnt it difficult doing the juggling act, we ask. The answer, much to our surprise, is a big NO. Im happy doing all, he quips.
If theres a will, theres a way, eh?
