While in Pune to promote her upcoming film ‘
Jabariya Jodi
’, actress
Parineeti Chopra spoke highly of
Marathi cinema
as well as the language. “It’s been only nine years for me in Maharashtra, so Marathi is still a new language for me,” she said during an interview with a news publication. Nonetheless, she mentioned that she loves the sound of it. The ‘Kesari’ actress commented that Marathi speaking people “sound so cool and confident”.
Parineeti went on to say that she is always impressed when people speak a language that she doesn’t. Some of the finest actors, she believes, are associated with Marathi cinema, and went on to appreciate her Golmaal Again (2017) co-star
Sachin Khedekar. “I have immense respect for Marathi cinema,” said Parineeti. And during the interview, she also mentioned that it is winning national awards and breaking box-office records.
Earlier,
Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who is Parineeti’s cousin sister, was associated with Marathi films, ‘Ventilator’ (2016) and ‘Kaay Re Rascalaa’ (2017). And during a recent interview with Bombay Times, Parineeti had spoken about exploring different avenues, “Every actor wants to get out of his/her comfort zone and do something different, because the audience has so many options to choose from, and an actor doing anything substandard doesn’t work. In fact, we feel empowered to do something different because of the way the audience has been reacting to cinema lately. These are the best times for one to be an artiste, because you can have the confidence to do something different, and you know that there is a fair chance of the audience lapping it up.” Well, Marathi cinema could definitely be one of the newer spaces to explore for the ‘Jabariya Jodi’ actress.
