Paresh Rawal reveals he drank his own urine to recover from knee injury: 'Doctor was surprised to see how fast I healed'
Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently shared an unusual remedy he used to recover from a serious knee injury while filming Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ghatak. The actor injured his leg during a scene with Rakesh Pandey, after which Tinnu Anand and Danny Denzongpa rushed him to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital. Paresh recalled feeling terrified, thinking his career was over.
Veeru Devgan suggested a surprising home remedy
Speaking with The Lallantop, Paresh revealed that late action director Veeru Devgan visited him at the hospital and gave him a unique suggestion, to drink his own urine every morning. “Veeru Devgan came to see me at Nanavati. When I told him about my injury, he said, ‘Drink your own urine first thing in the morning. All fighters do this. You’ll heal faster.’ He also told me to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and mutton, and just stick to regular food,” Paresh said.
Paresh Rawal healed much faster than expected
Paresh admitted he didn’t just drink it quickly but treated it like a ritual. “If I had to do it, I thought, I will sip it like beer,” he said. He followed the advice for 15 days, and when the new X-rays came in, even the doctor was shocked. There was a white lining in the X-ray showing that the bone was healing.
Normally, the recovery would have taken about two to two-and-a-half months, but Paresh healed in just one-and-a-half months.
On the work front, Paresh Rawal will soon be seen in Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla alongside Akshay Kumar and Tabu. He also has Hera Pheri 3 lined up with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty.
Before, Paresh Rawal became famous for his roles in Priyadarshan's comedy films, he had already established a strong presence in Bollywood. He worked with top comedy directors like David Dhawan and Rajkumar Santoshi, appearing in hit films such as 'Haseena Maan Jayegi', 'Hero No. 1', 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', and the cult classic 'Andaaz Apna Apna'. His impeccable comic timing and memorable performances had already made him a favorite among audiences.
