Paresh Rawal felt at home playing the character of the corrupt politician in Cinergy Pictures’ Rann directed by Ram Gopal Varma. In fact, he did a mix and match of the look of two politicians to create his character. “We have unfortunately got the gift of having corrupt politicians in abundance. I essay a character that is very real. We see him around us. He is just as believable as the film,” enthuses Paresh.

Though Paresh would keep silent, a little bird tells us that Laloo Prasad Yadav’s dhoti and Karunanidhi’s dark glasses complete the actor’s get-up. He has been inspired for his look from this duo.
Paresh has a point to make about the media as well. “Of course, there are honest reporters who believe in real reportage. At the same time, there are others who set out to make a film. With background score and effects, they make an item out of a news item,” says Paresh. “Of course people love sensationalism, but even if they don’t, these guys are going to give it to you.”
Rann, says Paresh, is one film that is “True.
