In a first, this year, International Film Festival of India (IFFI) introduced a new award category in IFFI - Best Web Series Award. During the closing ceremony of the 54th IFFI, it was announced that Panchayat Season 2 has won the award for best web series.
The exceptional web series award is judged on the parameters of its artistic merit, storytelling excellence, technical prowess and overall impact.
A total of 32 entries in 10 languages from 15 OTT platforms have been shortlisted out of which four series were nominated. These nominations included - Panchayat season 2, Human, Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapsi and Rocket Boys 1.
Jim Sarbh has been recognized with an International Emmy best actor nomination for hit SonyLIV series “Rocket Boys.”
The jury also gave a special mention to Rocket Boys.
Rocket Boys
The award comes with Rs 10 lakh and a trophy. Those web series, with all episodes released on an OTT platform between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, were considered for this award.
I&B officials say,"This award is recognition for OTT platforms and the work being done in the OTT space."
