Padmini Kolhapure sings 'Prem Rog' song for son's music label; Lata Mangeshkar makes the dream come true - Exclusive!

Padmini Kolhapure has lent her voice to the song 'Ye galiyan ye chaubara' from Raj Kapoor's 'Prem Rog' for her son Priyaank's company Dhamaka Records.

Not only has Ms Kolhapure sung the song in a music video but also starred in it. A source says, "It is only fitting that she is a part of it. The song was anyway largely picturised on her in 'Prem Rog'."
Well, if you recall, the 'Interval' in 'Prem Rog' (released in 1982 which fetched Padmini the Filmfare Best Actress Award) came as soon as this song was over.Ironically, this journey of Padmini too had an interval but of a different kind. The post-intermission part may not have begun, that is, the song would have never seen the light of day.
It was only when Padmini's aunt, the legendary Lata Mangeshkar intervened that the music label Sa Re Ga Ma relented to give the green signal to it. "Rights milna was asambhav (It was impossible to secure rights). Lataji called up Sa Re Ga Ma; they were very reluctant to give us the permission but after Lataji called, it was simply smooth sailing," revealed Padmini's husband Tutu Sharma, while talking to ETimes exclusively a few minutes ago.
And who suggested to Padmini that she should lend her voice to this song originally sung by Lata ji? Pat came the reply from Tutu, 'Yours truly'."
Added Tutu, "Padmini has done a wonderful job. She has a beautiful voice".
The Padmini version of 'Ye galiyan ye chaubara' was shot in a haveli in Haryana over a stretch of two days.
