During his maiden visit to Nepal, Orry, found himself exploring his many firsts. From talking a helicopter ride and getting a dekko of the Mount Everest, tasting the traditional Nepali cuisine to visiting multiple temples there – Nepal opened up like a box of Pandora for Orry. But there was something interesting in store that was about to unfold for the social media sensation and that being his meet and greet with Ma Anand Sheela.
The Indian-Swiss woman, a former aide to Bhagwan Rajneesh (Osho), was convicted in 1986 for attempted murder and assault for her role in the 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack. Talking about his meeting with her, Orry said, “Oh my God! She speaks like a boss. I attended one of her sessions and everyone needs to listen to the way she speaks. When I met her I asked her how much does Osho consume her mind even after so many years and she said, ‘He doesn’t’. She also told me she’s not in touch with anyone from the Osho aashram and that she’s moved on. She’s intelligent and has cutthroat answers ready. I think she’s the past, present and future viral sensation. I aspire to be like Ma Anand Sheela.”
Orry who was always inspired by her, became a fan of her after he saw her Netflix documentary Wild Wild Country. He said, “There’s one thing she said and that has stayed with me. She said, ‘Osho told me, Sheela, I am putting you in the place of world envy. So, do not fall for it… do not get fooled by the jealousy of other people’. This statement has stayed with me because I also see myself in the place of national envy. I learnt from Sheela that you don’t fall for envy and jealousy of other people and don’t get tricked by it.”
Orry posing with his elephant hat
Apart from visiting the famous Pashupatinath temple, Orry also visited the local markets where he got conned. His outfits from the trip went viral including the cute elephant hat. The latter he says was a scam! “During my last night in Nepal I bought a beautiful hat which was shaped like an elephant. It fit me so perfectly. I wore it for my Pashupatinath temple visit. But then I was told that it was not a hat but a tea cosy sold to me as a hat. Those smart wicked people from the market tricked me and I like an idiot wore it throughout the day,” he said.
