Ganpati Special with Orry: Visits Khetwadicha Ganraj; see pics! Says when I was a kid, people would call me Little Modak
Bombay Times continues its Blockbuster Bappa series with a spectacular felicitation at Khetwadi 12th Lane Ganraj, honoured this year as one of the Most Popular #BlockbusterBappas. Joining the celebration was content creator and pop culture personality Orry, adding to the festive cheer to the occasion.
“There’s an unmatched energy here. There’s just something in the air — the people, the space — it feels divine, calming, yet full of excitement and joy,” says Orry as he made his way through the vibrant pandal of Khetwadicha Raja.
Recalling his early memories with Bappa, Orry shares, “As a kid, making those little clay idols was my absolute favourite thing. I remember when I was around 7 or 8 years old, I took my clay Ganesha to school to show my classmates. I still make those clay Ganeshas. You’ll probably see one in my next viral reel.”
And what’s Ganesh Chaturthi without modaks? Orry lights up at the mention: “I love modaks! Sadly, I can’t eat too many now because of my weight goals, so I try to avoid sugar. But back when I was younger and chubbier, I used to eat so many that people actually called me ‘Little Modak’! My mom would say, ‘Look, little modak has come!’ every time I waddled into the room.”

He adds, “I’ve been making little clay Ganeshas for as long as I can remember. My bond with him feels lifelong. Bappa gives me a sense of stability and protection. He’s the lord of abundance, new beginnings, and the remover of obstacles. During this time, I feel fulfilled — whether it’s love, health, or happiness. I don’t feel a worry in the world.”And what’s Ganesh Chaturthi without modaks? Orry lights up at the mention: “I love modaks!
