Filmmaker Onir, who is currently occupied with a string of commitments for different producers and platforms, believes that 2021 will not be bereft of challenges for content creators. He asserts that challenges, however, will redefine themselves in this new year. Elaborating on it, he told BT, “I feel challenges redefine themselves. The OTT platforms have their own kind of challenges with respect to how they want one to narrate a story and the kind artistes they’d like for a show or a movie. Very often, as content creators, you have to decide whether you are making a film that you are truly passionate about and casting actors best suited for the job or are you trying to simply fit your content into different formats. As storytellers, while adapting to the format of OTT platforms, one realises that there is a difference in how they want a story to be told.”

During the lockdown, the audience was widely exposed to content on OTT platforms and a string of promising actors emerged on the scene. Pratik Gandhi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Vikrant Massey, Abhishek Banerjee and several others were appreciated for their performances in different shows and films. Bring this up and Onir says, “Yes, that is the silver lining in the current scenario. New and deserving talent has found a voice and a face. This is something I hope we continue to do -- bring to the fold more actors who can do justice to a role.”
