Nawazuddin Siddiqui is currently with his mother in Budhana. He managed to reach his hometown despite the lockdown, Nawaz had shared, “Due to the recent loss of my younger sister, my mother who is 71yrs old got anxiety attack twice. We have followed all the guidelines given by the State Government.” The actor is in home quarantine, however he has been hitting headlines for a different reason. Nawazuddin’s wife Aaliya sent the actor a legal notice for divorce, ending their marriage of 10 years. Aaliya recently decided to end her marriage with Nawazuddin, “Two months of lockdown gave me a lot of time to introspect. Self-respect is extremely important in a marriage. Woh meri khatam ho chuki thi, I didn’t have that. I was made to feel like a nobody, I always felt alone. His brother Shamas was also an issue,” she had told BT. Aaliya has also joined Twitter to clarify any misunderstanding about the ongoing matter. Her lawyer had told ETimes that she has suffered a lot and is managing the kids single-handedly. Aaliya is also seeking the custody of their two kids.

Aaliya supported Nawazuddin Siddiqui in ‘spying’ controversy

A couple of years back, Nawazuddin Siddiqui landed in a controversy wherein it was alleged that the actor was spying on his wife, with regards to a call detail records scam. While he had rubbished the allegations, Aaliya had also come out in his support and shared in a Facebook post that all the allegations were baseless and wrong. She had also shared that since Nawazuddin is a celebritiy, he is being made a soft target.

Nawazuddin faced a defamation suit from ex-lover Sunita Rajwar

Nawazuddin Siddiqui faced a defamation suit from ex-lover Sunita Rajwar for revealing details about their alleged romance in his memoir An Ordinary Life. According to Mumbai Mirror, Sunita stated that he had manipulated the details of their romance while Nawaz had replied in his legal notice that he was referring to some other Sunita. Nawazuddin Siddiqui later apolgised in a post on Twitter, “I m apologising 2 every1 who's sentiments r hurt bcz of d chaos around my memoir #AnOrdinaryLife I hereby regret & decide 2 withdraw my book.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s one-night stand with a waitress

In his controversial memoir, Nawazuddin Siddiqui had also opened up about a one-night stand he had with a waitress in New York. “Those years between 2006 and 2010 were pretty incredible too. The industry had begun to notice me... Strangely, the West was kinder to me first, both in terms of love and work. I was at a cafe once with my friend in New York City's Soho area. The stunning waitress kept staring at me. 'You? You are an actor?' she asked a rhetorical question. 'Yes!' I replied. 'Which film of mine did you see? Gangs of Wasseypur?' She squinted, trying to remember, 'No, no,' she said. 'Another film!' After a few moments, she responded: 'Lunchbox!' We got talking and let's just say what happens in New York stays in New York,” read an excerpt from the book.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s take on racism

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is a stellar actor and had waged a war against racism with a social media post that read, “Thank you for making me realise that I cannot be paired along with the fair and handsome because I’m dark and not good looking.” Speaking to IANS, Nawaz had said that he was reacting to a ‘gentleman’s statement on the kind of actors I need to be cast with’. Speaking about racism he was quoted by the report, “I have faced prejudices all my life because of my dark complexion, because of my humble background and because I come from a small village.”
