‘Om Shanti Om’ to ‘Chhapaak’; here’s how Deepika Padukone has impressed with her different looks

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is one of the most loved actresses in the industry today. Started off with Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Om Shanti Om’, she has always managed to leave everyone impressed with her flawless performances. She is known for doing some strong characters and in her upcoming film, ‘Chhapaak’, Deepika will be seen setting a new benchmark for herself. Directed by Meghna Gulzar, ‘Chhapaak’ will see Deepika in a different avatar as she plays an acid attack survivor. Inspired by the life of Laxmi Agarwal, the film has managed to create a buzz ever since its first look was launched. Before the film arrives, let’s revisit her different looks from her past films:

2/7

Om Shanti Om

Directed by Farah Khan, ‘Om Shanti Om’ was a debut film of Deepika opposite Shah Rukh. The story revolved around reincarnation and Deepika played a dual role in it. She was seen in a retro look and nailed it quite smoothly. Her portrayal of Shantipriya didn’t look like her debut film. Well, since then there’s no stopping for the leading lady.

3/7

Cocktail

In this Homi Adjania directorial, Deepika looked complete opposite from what we saw her doing in the past. She played the role of Veronica who was fiery, wild-child and super confident. She even went on to say in her previous interviews how she went out of her comfort zone to play Veronica as she couldn’t relate to her. But she pulled off the character with such ease and it is her one of the most talked about performances.

4/7

Chennai Express

After doing films like ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Cocktail’ and others, audiences got to witness the funny side of Deepika in ‘Chennai Express’. She was again paired up with SRK in this Rohit Shetty directorial. She essayed the role of Meenalochni Azhagusundaram, a Tamil girl. Her Tamil accent was criticized by some but it did garner appreciation for her performance. Again with this film, she proved her versatility as an actor.

5/7

Piku

This is one of the most loved films of Deepika. The Shoojit Sircar directorial also featured Amitabh Bachchan and the camaraderie of both the actors was totally adored by the audiences. Deepika in the film was seen essaying the role of a modern working woman who is short tempered yet soft at heart. Speaking about her look in the film, Deepika nailed the Bengali avatar and accent. ‘Piku’ is one of the major highlights in her filmography.

6/7

Bajirao Mastani

This Sanjay Leela Bhansali directoral was a visual treat which starred Deepika, Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra. She played the role of Mastani who is a fearless warrior and a strong headed woman. Even her chemistry with Ranveer stole the show here. In the interviews during the release, Deepika went on to say that her character represents modern women. She went all traditional for her look with heavy embroidered lehengas and jewelry.

7/7

Padmaavat

Deepika worked with SLB yet again and passed with flying colours. Despite heavy protests, her portrayal as Rani Padmaavati was appreciated by the critics as well as the audiences. She justified with the character completely. From flaunting her grace to spine-chilling expressions, Deepika won the hearts of many with her performances. In the film, she also performed a self-immolation scene which is also known as ‘Jauhar’. That particular scene created stir on social media but at the same time, Deepika received rave reviews for her flawless and graceful act.
