Regarded as one of Bollywood’s best discoveries, the late Om Puri was known for his large body of work. A prolific actor, he commanded a huge fan following across the globe. His career, which spanned several decades, boasts of working with some of the best filmmakers and actors of this generation. Naturally, his death last January came as blow to the industry and fans alike. Puri, who was still acting at the time of his untimely death, will be seen in ‘Lashtam Pashtam’, which has been made by debutant Manav Bhalla.
Reports say that Puri, a National Award-winning actor, was so touched by the film’s plot that focuses on brotherhood and friendship across borders, that he he not only agreed to be a part of the film but also decided to lower his remuneration owing to the film’s small budget.
Manav confirmed the news. He said that his film focuses on delicate human relationships and how the bond of brotherhood triumphs over all odds. He had written the script specifically keeping Puri in mind and was hopeful that the late veteran actor would accept the role after hearing it. Luckily for Manav, Puri fell in love with the script and even decided to lower his fees. The filmmaker was touched by his generous gesture and admitted that he would be eternally grateful to Puri for being a part of his film. He added that the film also highlights the same values that Puri followed in real life and that he is hoping audiences enjoy the film, which is all set to release on the Independence Day weekend.
