HYDERABAD: Veteran film director Hrishikesh Mukherjee and multifaceted artist P Bhummathi won the prestigious NTR Memorial Award for the year 2000 and 2001 respectively for their contribution to the film industry.
The award, comprising a cash prize of Rs five lakh and a memento, was instituted by the Andhra Pradesh government in memory of former chief minister and film personality N T Rama Rao.
Earlier recipients of the award include A Nageshwara Rao, Lata Mangeshkar and Dilip Kumar.
The date of the award presenting ceremony would be announced later, an official release said here on Thursday.
Hrishikesh Mukherjee, a teacher, entered the film world as an editor and assisted Bimal Roy and other top film makers in his early days.
He was also associated with Ritwik Ghatak and later on embossed his own stamp on Hindi films with his low budget family melodramas.
