Manmohan Shetty is on the threshold of unveiling his next big dream – Adlabs Imagica – India’s first entertainment theme park. It is the biggest investment in the entertainment sector so far – 1,650 crore. Shetty has been working on the project ever since he sold Adlabs over five years ago. Imagica is spread across 300 acres off Mumbai-Pune Expressway, near Khopoli, Tal-Khalapur.
The first phase of development includes the theme park, which is spread over 110 acres. It offers 21 unique attractions, six restaurants and various live performances. In another year, a 300-room hotel and a water park will be ready as well. The attractions include a world-class motion simulator 'Mr India – The Ride', India’s first 360-degree full-dome theatre, and 'I For India', which offers a flying experience.
When asked if he had given up on films, Shetty said he has created many animation and live action films for his theme park. In its first year of operations, Shetty and his daughters Pooja and Aarti are targeting to host over three million visitors. He says, “Bringing a new concept like a theme park to our country was a challenging, yet satisfying, experience. The motivation has always remained simple – to put people in the centre of action and create immersive entertainment.” In the first week of April, the theme park will open for an exclusive dekko by special invitation. Imagicans, as the first guests who will get to check out the park, will be able to witness the final stage of preparations before it opens for the public a couple of weeks later.
