Not all music is meant for charts or applause: Abhijeet Ghoshal
Singer Abhijeet Ghoshal believes music should go beyond trends and virality, urging artists to focus on purpose over popularity. Challenging the current metrics of success, he said, “Not every song is meant to go viral. Some music is meant first for the divine, not for listeners.”
The Sa Re Ga Ma Pa record-holder, known for eleven consecutive wins, emphasised the responsibility that comes with creativity. “Not everyone is blessed with the ability to sing, dance, or create. If you are, why not dedicate your first work to the source that gave it to you?” he shared. In an era driven by views and shares, Abhijeet highlighted the difference between fleeting hits and lasting art. “We live in a time when songs are measured in views and shares. But a truly meaningful song begins as an offering. That is where the real joy lies.”
He added that music must first resonate within the artist. “Music should soothe, relax, and comfort you before it reaches anyone else. When you connect to that inner calm, you connect to something higher.” Whether devotional or commercial, he believes creation carries a spiritual element. “Whether a bhajan or a playful song, God allows it to flow through you. That is the first blessing of creation.”
For Abhijeet, lasting impact matters more than instant fame. “Hit songs fade, trends vanish, but when your music starts as devotion, it leaves a mark beyond charts or applause.”
